This was Fellini's directorial debut, although he had been involved in the Italian cinema for quite some time as a writer, mainly. "The White Sheik" heralded the great things that Fellini had in store for all his admirers. It is also the debut of a character that will come to life later on, Cabiria, the prostitute with the heart of gold, the eternal optimist, whose story will be told a few years later in full length.
Fellini was indeed inspired for this picture. He was lucky in finding collaborators of the stature of Tullio Pinelli, who will be linked to Mr. Fellini in many other projects, Michelangelo Antonionni, himself a distinguished director, and Ennio Flaiano. The music of Nino Rota adds another layer to this film with its tuneful score. Arturo Gallea's wonderful black and white photography looks as though it was just shot, with its crisp details of that Rome of the early 1950s in all its splendor.
Ivan Cavalli, an older man has married the beautiful, and younger, Wanda. They come from a small town and their honeymoon is to be spent in Rome, taking the sights and visiting his well connected relatives. The arrival at the train station captures the chaos and confusion that looks pretty much the same today. The prim Ivan is taken aback when the clerk at the Tre Fiori hotel shouts to take the couple to the "honeymoon suite" on the third floor.
Wanda, who is much younger, has something else in mind. She, like a lot of women of that era in Italy, loved the romance stories that were beautifully photographed and which had its followers who adored figures like Fernando Rivoli, the hunk male star of those soap opera paperbacks. Wanda, has been corresponding with the office that handles the production of those penny romances, goes to meet her idol. Wanda, a naive woman, is an instant hit with the woman who writes some of the stories, who tells her Fernando is downstairs waiting for her. Well, that's the beginning for Wanda's fling with celebrity.
In the meantime, Ivan awakens to a flooded room because Wanda forgot to turn off the water in the bath tub. Little does he know, but his punctual uncle and his family await the newlyweds downstairs, but Wanda is missing. What to do? Ivan does everything to excuse his absent bride to the uncle, telling them she feels too sick to go with them. Ivan decides to go along with the relatives not knowing what else to do. The visit to the Pope, a highlight of the trip, has to be postponed.
Wanda finds herself on a beach location where some of the White Sheik's photography is to be shot. She makes quite an impression with her idol, who sees in the naive woman an easy prey. Little prepares him for the way everything will turn against him as his jealous wife arrives to the shoot. Wanda, has to find her own way to Rome in the company of a beach goer who sees in Wanda the same thing Rivoli saw: sex!
Leopoldo Trieste, who plays Ivan Cavalli, was the perfect man to play this fastidious man. Mr. Trieste runs away with the picture. The only concern for this stuffy man is his honor. The mere idea of having his good name sullied by Wanda simply is too much for him; it horrifies him. Mr. Trieste, one of the best film actors in Italian cinema makes a wonderful Ivan.
Brunella Bovo appears as Wanda, the young bride. Ms. Bovo is also marvelous in the film. She is a romantic woman who probably is married to Ivan to please her parents. Ivan is the opposite of her idea of what those heroes of the romance novels she adores, must look like. Wanda is horrified when she realizes what her idol Rivoli expects from her.
Fellini and his team were blessed in casting Alberto Sordi as Rivoli. This actor was at an excellent moment in his film career. His larger than life persona dazzles Wanda, but he is like some other handsome hunks that are used to easy females who he lures to bed by telling them what they want to hear.
The ensemble cast is also excellent. Enzo Maggio, a notable character actor, plays the hotel concierge who is more interested in pushing post cards than giving service. Lilia Landi is Felga, one of the models posing for the novels. Ettore Maria Margadonna is seen as the well connected uncle. Giulietta Masina appears toward the end of the film as Cabiria who is walking the streets where she meets the distraught Ivan and comforts him.
This delicious film is a must see for all fans of that genius that was Federico Fellini.

The Doors: Break On Thru - A Celebration Of Ray manzarek. H ere’s a deeply uncool, almost embarrassingly un-rock’n’roll Doors documentary; it’s unlikely to get toes a-tapping let alone light a fire. It’s essentially a filmed gig, reuniting the two surviving Doors, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore, on stage with assorted members of Foo Fighters, Jane’s Addiction, Stone Temple Pilots and more filling in for Jim Morrison and keyboardist Ray Manzarek. The hits comes thick and fast, tightly arranged and slickly performed, but this lineup of well-preserved mostly male musicians gives the show the bland atmosphere of a celebrity tribute band. The gig is dedicated to Manzarek, who died in 2013, and director Justin Kreutzmann pads out the gig footage with an interview the keyboardist gave and fresh input from Krieger and Densmore. The pair genially repeat anecdotes for the 1, 000th time: how they met Manzarek at a transcendental meditation course and how they were initially underwhelmed by Morrison, then an insecure, shy kid. Still, some of the stories deserve repeating, such as the one about the time Morrison dropped acid before going on stage at the Hollywood Bowl, and spent the first few minutes picking at the AstroTurf. In archive footage, the sound on mute, we see him later at that same gig, whirling and howling, beautiful and unhinged. That energy is not matched at the tribute gig, though guest singer Andrew Watt, with a preening performance of LA Woman, does a fair imitation of Morrison’s messiah complex, if not his appeal. Speaking to camera, Densmore glosses over his longrunning feud with Krieger over touring as the Doors without Morrison. At the time he is on record as saying: “It can’t be the Doors without Jim. It could be the Windows, the Hinges, I don’t care, as long as it’s not the Doors. ” Watching this film, you might agree. • The Doors Break on Thru: A Celebration of Ray Manzarek is released in the UK on 7 February and in Australia on 12 February.

I was hoping that John and Robby would reconcile after Ray passed, so I'm glad to see this.  Like that example with The Monkees, it also took the passing of Ronnie James Dio to get Ozzy to come back to Black Sabbath and really focus on that next album.  Now granted that time around Ozzy was simply more focused on his solo career as opposed to having any sort of animosity, but Dio's death made them all realize their own mortality, and if a new Sabbath album with Ozzy was going to happen, it better be soon.  Their next focus should be on working things out with Bill Ward, who actually almost died last year from a perforated diverticulitis.

E eh esse o suposto amor de cristo/deus. Eh esse o suporto encontrar a deus, que so existe no amor inconsicional ao proximo (empatia). Jesus apareceu com essa mensagem justamente pq ele viveu em uma epoca igual a do Brasil hoje. Muitas mudancas sociais de forma rapida causando a falta de estabilidade social que havia antes, fazendo com que as pessoas se sintam inseguras e surgindo muito odio. In a reverse of the original Lego Movie, this one begins with the live-action part and then transitions into the animated toy world. But this one isn't nearly as clever or funny, the music isn't as catchy, and the set pieces and characters are only vaguely familiar, unless you're an existing (or former) Playmobil fan. All of that said, the talented voice cast saves this from being a completely wasted 90 minutes. While the songs are bland and forgettable, Lambert's Freddie Mercury-esque vocals as the villainous Maximus are fun. The whole reason this movie is a flop is because people have been playing with legos a lot. The story, the animation, the characters and the songs are stupendous and memorable. I've played with Playmobil as a kid growing up (and still do to this day. I immediately recognized the voices of Jim Gaffigan and Daniel Radcliffe. Highly recommend it. It's funny to think that Wallace and gromit saved Shaun the sheep

I find it ridiculous how many critics trashed this movie. I went into this film with very very low expectations, like Chicken Little levels. But its accually a cute film. It is no Finding Nemo, but a quick paced little story of adventure. It moves quickly and kept my kids attention. There were more moments where I thought this was really good. Jim Gaffigan did a great job. It is a musical with a lot of action. As a Dad who is a classic film buff I would watch this again and yet again the critics are aweful. Its not Lego movie, but it is harmless fun. On top of that the movie is 5 per ticket due to an experimental pricing experiment. Please do yourself a favor at this price, go see this with the family. And ignore the critics who can this but throw high numbers at whatever Disney throws up.

Livre préféré : Sans hésiter la saga Harry Potter. C'est les tout premiers gros livres que j'ai commencé à lire et que j'ai dévoré les uns à la suite des autres, je suis tellement fan. J'ai grandit avec et c'est ces livres la qui m'ont donné gout à lire, donc sans hésitation Harry Potter. Film préféré : Alors là je pense que c'est hyper compliqué de répondre à cette question. Je suis une cinéphile et sériephile de fou, je suis complètement addict, tellement que j'ai des tas de DVD à la maison et que mon objectif est d'avoir une bibliothèque énorme rempli de DVD. J'aime tellement, c'est un truc de fou. Donc en film préféré, en y pensant juste comme ça je pense directement à Shutter Island, qui pour moi est un film de fou. C'est typiquement le genre de film que j'adore, et Léonardo DiCaprio étant mon acteur préféré je pense que ça n'aide pas trop ahaha. Sport préféré : Je dirai la musculation, j'adore utiliser les machines et surtout le fait qu'on puisse développer n'importe quel muscle grâce à ce sport. Style de musique préféré : encore compliqué car j'écoute de tout, mais je suis tout à fait d'accord avec toi sur le rock, j'adore tous les groupes que tu as cité (je suis d'ailleurs aller voir ACDC en concert à Berlin, c'était juste énormeeeee. Vêtement préféré : C'est sans aucun doute le short. Je ne peux pas ne pas mettre de short c'est impossible, et je suis fan de l'été pour pouvoir me mettre en short. Dès que je peux les ressortir, hop, c'est parti je suis en short. Et tout l'été je suis en short débardeur, c'est très rare que je sois autrement ahaha. Et même en hiver, je trouve ça tellement beau un short avec un collant en dessous et des bottines aux pieds. J'adore. Enfin, boisson starbuck préféré : je ne peux malheureusement pas y répondre tout simplement parce que je n'ai jamais eu l'occasion de m'y rendre. Dans ma ville il n'y en a pas un seul, et les fois ou j'ai voyagé dans les villes ou y'en avait j'ai toujours eu un imprévu pour m'empêcher d'y aller. Was she just really that naive, or was it a flaw in her character? Military Wives is as formulaic as movies go, regardless the film is surprisingly good and it uses the formula really well. However it never aspires to be anything else preventing it from becoming a classic amongst the genre.
I haven't been familiar with the true story but from the start, you just know where it is all gonna go. It still works well but nothing is a surprise because of that. It still has some great moments and a fair amount of heart
It is seriously enjoyable and it is a likeable movie with a great cast. Kristen Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan are great here.
I'm sure there are many people who will like this film. I just can't see that much greatness in it. It's formulaic and does it's best to be a lovely and charming film but it does it in such a manipulative way, and I hate it when films do that. It is still worth watching though.
